Cash for Cows – A Family Cow Day Event
In 2007 we bought 2 Cows for the farm where the older boys live and work. We housed 3 homeless families in traditional Gers. We were also able to buy wood burning stoves, blankets, chairs and tables.
This was a Bank Holiday to remember at the King Charles Pub, Kings Worthy Winchester when locals gathered on the pub green for a charity day aimed at raising enough money to purchase a cow for a farm in Mongolia run by rescued street children.
The day included ‘Cow’ themed activities ranging from a tour of the local diary farm,
drinking flavoured milk, eating beefburgers and cow face-
Local children ran the sweet shop with Cow related sweets including ‘milky ways, milk bottles, milky bars and milk shakes which went down a treat! With a cow themed Quiz and raffle prizes including an original Cow fused glass piece from Tinklertastic, a limited edition cow print from Joe Low photography meat hampers and many vouchers from local business the tickets sold like hot shakes.
All in all the day raised over £600.
A cow costs approximately £375 in Mongolia so this year we might be able to purchase two! Moooo
Sophie Grigson, Celebrity Chef, put her hand in the hat and chose the first four prize winners for our latest Raffle at the Romsey Show Saturday 8th September.
Sue from Tinklertastic kindly allowed us to be part of her stall -
