A Playground at last!
2008 gave us the chance to raise funds for a most overdue playground for the children who have been taken off the streets and are awaiting identification.
We held a ‘Coffee & Stalls’ morning at the King Charles Pub which was a huge success with the stall holders asking to come back for the next one! We offered personalised gift cards as alternative presents, sold Mongolian Felt, had Tinklertastic jewellery donated for sale which raised super funds and were delighted with personal donations.
All abandoned, lost and unsupervised girls and boys in Mongolia aged between 5-
are brought to the Children’s Welfare Center of Ulaanbaatar City Police
Department. Annually around 900 to 1100 children will pass through the centre and all
benefit from the playground
These children really have ‘Nothing’ except for the clothes they arrive in. The playground
provides a safe area to play, where children can socialise, build up muscle through
play and exercise, learn balance and control and best of all-
Cathy and Declan visited the finished playground and spent time with the children who benefit from A Better Life.
Housing Homeless Families in 2008
We housed 3 more families who were homeless in 2008 and are proud to have been able to do this before the cold Mongolian Winter really set in.
