2010 was such a successful year for ‘A Better Life’ as the proceeds from our ‘Masked Ball’ , ‘Wacky Races’ and personal donations enabled us to house another family in need and support our ongoing farm project with purchases of farm equipment, a tractor, more animals and seed. We also became a registered charity and can now benefit from gift aid which will be a huge advantage to us over the years.
‘A Better Life Masked Ball’, held in Winchester, was a most fabulous evening of food,
fun and endless dancing and we were absolutely delighted with the amount raised.
We have had requests for the next Ball already-
The Wacky Races, held annually on the last Sunday of June was even bigger and better and competition was fierce so all we can say is – ‘start building’. We are proudly sponsored for this event by ‘Hill Farm Garage and Proton cars’.
We were very grateful this year to have a friend, supporter and committee member, Frances Campbell, travel to Mongolia with her husband and family (Geoff, Charlie & George) to trek across the Gobi on horse back and volunteer to stay in Ulaanbaatar for four days to help A Better Life by overseeing the 2010 projects. The Campbell’s met our newly housed family and families we housed last year in their Gers. With help from Sarra the Campbell’s also visited the Farm Project and had a ride on the new tractor!
